Inauguration of Bokyatte School

Caravan to Class inaugurated our 17th school construction and support project in January 2023. Many dignitaries from the Timbuktu region as a show of support for our work in education since 2010 came to visit.

The village of Bokyatte is located a few miles from the famous Djingareyber Mosque. The village population of 580 with over 130 school-age children, making a perfect scale project for Caravan to Class. The villagers mostly earn relatively low wages as day laborers or cleaning for families in the center of Timbuktu.

Caravan to Class built a 3-classroom school with separate toilet facilities for girls and boys. We equipped the school with desks and tables, provided food and supplies, paid teachers’ salaries, and school uniforms. In addition, we implement our Female Adult Literacy programs for mothers.
