Selection Of New Bourse Jackie Female Scholarship Recipients

The Caravan to Class team selected its fifth cohort of female scholarship recipients for our Bourse Jackie scholarship program.
After a few months spent publicizing the open application period, via high school visits, radio and other media, we received 35 applications for the five scholarships we provide annually.

The program is life-changing! We pay for private university in the capital, Bamako, Mali until graduation, provide laptop computers, a stipend for transportation, a monthly women’s leadership and empowerment program and finally three months of intensive English language training at the BT Institute, in Ghana.

We selected the best 15 applicants out of those female high school graduates who applied and held a selection exam given by the Timbuktu Ministry of Education especially designed for our Bourse Jackie program. From that, we chose the highest five scores for scholarships and gave laptop computers to the other ten who were not selected. Our five new scholarship recipients are now in Bamako, over 1,000 kilometers and a world away from Timbuktu, and have launched their university careers.
