If you are a school, Caravan to Class endeavors to both inspire kids and educate them about deserving children who lack access to education. Our aim is for Caravan to Class to be a bridge to children of far away and forgotten places who lack proper education. The children in villages like Tedeini, outside of Timbuktu, are happy and engaged children. Their villages are poor and lacking any government support. They either do not have schools or lack basic essentials like certified teachers to provide basic education. By engaging schools in more priviledged countries like ours, youth can both learn about the interesting places where Caravan to Class operates, and become aware of important social justice issues.
The students from your school will come to learn that, while children in many Africa villages lack basic essentials like school, however, they still have dignity and dreams just like children from more prosperous countries. Caravan to Class would like to provide this connection. We are fortunate to have had the support and engagement of a few schools in Northern California and would like to use these positive experiences as a blueprint for future interactions with other schools.
Please consider having your school partner with Caravan to Class. Your support will enable us to further our mission to bring literacy to Africa. Your students will gain experience and satisfaction in the process while learning to help those in less fortunate situations. “The purpose of life is not to be happy—but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.”
~ Leo Rosten
