Caravan to Class Director Barry Hoffner reports $10,000 grant awarded to organization from the Chicago-based Lefkofsky Family Foundation
Sausalito, CA - (August 10, 2011)
Caravan to Class received its first foundation grant of $10,000 from the Chicago-based Lefkofsky Family Foundation. This grant will serve as anchor funding for Caravan to Class to begin its second school project in the village of Mora, about 5 kilmometers away from where Caravan to Class built its first school.
"We are very grateful to the Lefkofsky Family Foundation for placing their faith in us and our good work to overcome the injustice of illiteracy in one of the world's most illiterate places," says DIrector, Barry Hoffner. The project will focus on rebuilding the heavily deteriorated mud-hut school into a longer-lasting cement school 3-classroom school building complete with desks and chalkboard.
